Data privacy

We are very serious about protecting the privacy of your personal data and operate in strict compliance with data privacy laws. Personal data on these websites are generated only to the extent required for technical reasons, i.e. in our provider's server log files. Data thus generated will not under any circumstances be sold or passed on to third parties for any other reasons.

The statement below indicates how we provide this protection and shows which types of data are generated and for which purposes.

Data processing on these websites
The provider hosting our website automatically generates and saves items of information in server log files which your browser sends to the server. These are:

  • Browsertyp/-version
  • browser type/version
  • your operating system
  • referrer URL (the website you visited previously)
  • host name of the accessing computer (short IP address)
  • time of the server request

The IP address contained in the log files generated by the provider is shortened in a way that makes it impossible to trace the IP address, which qualifies as personal data (this also applies to temporary IP addresses whose storage may enable the user at the time of issue to be traced for the duration of storage).

We are unable to match these data to particular individuals. These data are not combined with other data sources and are deleted after statistical analysis.

Contact forms
If you send us a message using our convenient contact forms, all the information you provide is voluntary.
There are just a couple of designated boxes for required information that you need to complete, such as your email address as the sender of the contact form. Data you send on that basis will be held strictly confidential and not disclosed to third parties.

We will use your own email address only to reply to or contact you. Your email address may then be stored in an email address book but not disclosed to third parties.

Right to information
You have the right to be informed at all times about the data stored about you, the data source and recipient and the purpose of storage. If you have any questions about how we process your personal data, please contact our data privacy officer via datenschutz(at)comed-translation.com.

Cookies
Cookies are basically used to make websites more user-friendly, effective and safer. Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer and saved by your browser. Cookies are frequently used for online shopping and banking, for instance. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not carry viruses.

Analysis software

To ensure that the websites meet users' needs on a continuous basis, COMED Medical Translation GmbH uses a version of the Piwik analysis tool modified to meet German data privacy requirements.
More information is available at: www.piwik.org

Piwik uses cookies, or text files that are stored on your computer. Cookies enable your internet browser to be recognized and in that way show us how you use our website. Analysis is anonymous and does not provide a means of tracing the identity of individuals or setting up user profiles.
The information on your use of this website generated by the cookie (including your anonymized IP address) remains under the data sovereignty of COMED Medical Translation GmbH.
By using this website, you agree to the processing of the data generated about you in the manner described in the foregoing and only for the specified purpose.

Withdrawal of consent to data processing using Piwik
You can object to the processing of your visits by Piwik web analysis software and re-issue your permission at any time.
You can prevent processing of your website visits by Piwik by storing a Piwik disabling cookie in your browser. You can replace it at any time with a web analysis cookie.
Please note that both the Piwik disabling cookie and the web analysis cookie will be deleted if you remove the cookies stored in your browser. In addition, if you ever use another computer or other web browser than the one you are currently using, you have to issue a separate refusal on processing of your website visits by Piwik.

General advice on cookie settings
You can also block installation of cookies of any kind in your browser by changing your settings. However, some applications in COMED Medical Translation GmbH's internet offerings depend on cookies for technical reasons, and blocking cookies might prevent you from being able to make full use of these applications.
You can also adjust your browser settings to tell you when a cookie is being installed so that you can enable or disallow installation of the cookie.

To do this, proceed as follows:
Firefox: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Select "Creating user-defined history list…", then set options for accepting cookies
Internet Explorer: Tools > Options > Privacy > Advanced> select "Override automatic cookie handling", enable "confirm" cookies
